"Anna, are you making an eye cream soon?" , I am often asked. The answer is: no. We already have. However, you will search in vain for the label ‹eye cream›. The eye area does not need any other care than the rest of the face, it just wants to be cared for with extra care. And in this article you will find 10 simple tips against small blemishes such as dark circles and dark shadows!
Eye cream: how much care does the eye area really need?

Why is good eye care useful?
Dark circles, dark shadows, dryness lines - the skin around the eyes is particularly sensitive. It is thinner and often drier than other areas. This makes them less resistant and causes wrinkles to form more quickly. In addition, this area is not well supported by connective tissue. So the padding is missing from below.
The vessels are also very delicate here. If they don't get enough oxygen from the blood, they can narrow further. This causes dark or bluish shadows under the eyes .
Puffy eyes have a very similar reason. Lymphatic fluid builds up in vessels that are too narrow while you sleep. You notice this especially after a restless – or short… – night.
☝️ Let's make it clear: The eye area is particularly delicate and therefore reacts more quickly to little sleep, environmental influences and an imbalance.
What does eye care have to do?
Eye cream with hyaluronic acid and glycerin makes perfect sense. These substances provide the skin with a lot of moisture and that is exactly what it needs. Nourishing oils such as shea butter , almond oil or argan oil help to store moisture and strengthen the skin barrier. The skin's own protection is made even more resistant by vitamin E and other antioxidants. They improve cell protection and prevent premature skin aging.
Since the eye is a sensitive organ, the care should never have an irritating effect. Alcohol is just as taboo for this sensitive area as substances foreign to the skin, such as mineral oils or silicones, which can get into the eyes and thus into the body.

Eye cream against wrinkles, do I need something like that?
The range of products specifically for the eyes is huge. There are creams, serums, ampoules, masks, roll-ons for young skin, for mature skin and so on. You could fill an entire mirrored cabinet with eye care alone. But does that have to be? No.
With a good facial care you can save extra eye products.
We have seen what care the eye area needs. And it is not fundamentally different from the rest of the facial skin. In addition, skin care must be type-specific. And your skin type does not stop at the eye area. Dry skin tends to be even more dry here. Sensitive skin may react even more sensitively here. Therefore, the eye care should also suit your skin type and possibly skin condition.

Eye wrinkles cannot be undone by care products any more than other wrinkles. However, good moisturizing care counteracts dryness lines. And above all, good care prevents premature skin aging. Antioxidants and a sun protection factor minimize light-induced skin aging - by the way: sunglasses with a high filter category offer the sensitive skin directly around the eyes additional protection. Nutrient-rich vegetable oils help the skin to effectively renew itself and remain elastic. And with my top 10 tips you can take care of your eyes naturally...
Help with dark circles and Co. - the top 10
1. Sleeping Beauty
Who has that much time...? Of course it doesn't have to be 100 years, but treat yourself to enough sleep regularly. And ensure an even sleep pattern.
2. Gentle massage
A gentle massage supports the drainage of accumulated lymphatic fluid under the eye. Use your pinky or ring finger (they don't have as much force) to tap very lightly from the inside out.
3. Cooling
Cold helps to reduce dark circles. Simply put a teaspoon in the freezer for a few minutes and then put it on your closed lids. The shape fits perfectly! If you have the problem more often, feel free to put a spoonful in the fridge ( not in the freezer in this case).
4. Drink a lot
Beauty from within: Adults should drink at least 1.5 liters a day, recommends the Swiss Health Promotion Foundation.
5. A good day care...
... which provides moisture (glycerin, hyaluronic acid), strengthens the skin barrier (lipids) and provides nutrients (especially important: vitamins E and C). All of this, of course, without irritating alcohols and mineral oils.
6. Run away from dark circles
Or cycle or swim. Sport not only cuts a good figure, but – who would have thought – also beautiful eyes. It boosts blood circulation and you are supplied with plenty of oxygen down to the smallest vessels. This is how you send shadows under your eyes and co. to the mat.
7. Healthy eating
Beautiful skin needs minerals, vitamins and protein for new skin cells. Iron-rich foods are particularly effective against dark circles under the eyes. Sugar beet syrup, for example, is an old home remedy for this blemish.
8. Retouches
Concealer hides dark circles around the eyes. But as soon as wrinkles appear, it has its pitfalls: it settles in them. Rather rely on a light, fresh make-up and cleverly set highlights. A light shimmer on cheekbones, under the eyebrows and in the corner of the eye makes you shine.
9. Light tan
If your skin is very pale, dark circles under your eyes can make you look sickly. A touch of tan gives you more freshness. In summer this comes naturally (even with sun protection, because it is mandatory!). In winter, a self-tanner conjures up the same effect in a very gentle way.
10. Temperance
This applies to alcohol, tobacco and salt. These substances impair blood circulation and the fine vessels, for example around the eyes, are the first to feel it.
And now : turn everyone's head with your most enchanting look!
